Transmission Service in Bradenton, FL - Conley Isuzu Truck Center

Transmission problems can develop over time as even Isuzu parts age and wear out. Regular servicing and maintenance will prevent this from happening and keep your transmission in great shape.  As your Isuzu dealer, we’d like you to know a few signs something is wrong and you need to visit us for a transmission repair.

Burning Rubber Smells

Burning smells are always a sign of trouble, and if you smell the stench of burning rubber, your transmission fluid could be burning. This fluid is vital for your transmission, providing the hydraulic power that allows the gears to shift. Many transmission components depend on friction to work effectively, and this fluid coats them in a friction-reducing covering to protect them.

Transmission fluid is heat resistant but loses this property as it ages. The transmission operates at high temperatures due to the constant movement of countless parts, which can cause older fluid to overheat and burn. Burning fluid prevents the transmission from shifting and can also cause serious damage to its components. We’ll flush the transmission to remove the old fluid and refill it.

Slipping Gears

When you or the transmission computer shift gears, your transmission responds by smoothly, quietly, and efficiently moving them to their new positions. The gears will remain in that position until you or the computer shifts them again. Slipping gears is a dangerous situation where the transmission unexpectedly drops to a previous gear with no warning.

You’ll usually hear grinding noises as the gears are forced into new positions, and your vehicle could stop if the transmission shifts to neutral. Slipping gears could be due to a transmission computer fault, low transmission fluid, or broken transmission linkages. Our technicians will investigate and fix the issue.

Strange Noises

If you hear buzzing, humming, whining, clunking, or other disturbing noises coming from the transmission, something is wrong. These noises are usually difficult to detect when they begin but will grow in intensity as the issue continues. These noises can be caused by issues ranging from a transmission leak to a damaged torque converter.

Any transmission issue will worsen if it’s not repaired, so it’s important to get your transmission checked ASAP. We’ll identify and fix the problem, and your transmission will work efficiently and quietly again.
